Sarpi is the southernmost village in Georgia, sitting against the Turkish border about 15 km south of Batumi. The beach here is short but striking: a curve of grey pebbles set into a steep wooded bay, with cliffs at one end and the curious sail-shaped border checkpoint at the other. The water is noticeably clearer than at Batumi itself, partly because the river outflows are further off.
It is a popular day-trip beach for Batumi locals and visitors. Minibuses (marshrutkas) run frequently from the city; the trip takes about half an hour. There are cafes along the seafront, plus a small Black Sea aquarium for rainy afternoons.
