The National Assembly of Serbia is one of central Belgrade's defining civic buildings, with a grand domed facade facing the broad political axis around Nikola Pašić Square. Its architecture is formal and theatrical, exactly the sort of state building meant to project continuity, authority, and national ambition.
Most travellers see it from the outside while walking between the old centre, Tašmajdan, and the museum district. Even without going in, it is worth pausing here because the square around it is a stage for Serbian political life, public ceremonies, and protests as much as architecture.
