A story
Wright designed this for soap executive Darwin D. Martin between 1903 and 1905 — one of the most ambitious Prairie Style projects he ever built. After Martin's death in 1935, the house fell into prolonged dereliction: the carriage house was demolished, the pergola collapsed, and the conservatory was torn down. A $50 million restoration completed in 2019 rebuilt the missing structures from Wright's original drawings, including 394 art glass windows that had been scattered across private collections worldwide.
