Tifft Nature Preserve is a wetland and grassland reserve on Buffalo's outer harbor, created on land that was once heavily industrial. That transformation is part of the interest: boardwalks, ponds and bird habitat now sit close to grain elevators, rail corridors and the broad water of Lake Erie.
It is a good place for a quiet walk, especially for birders or anyone who wants a break from architecture and museums. The preserve combines well with the waterfront, Canalside or Times Beach Nature Preserve, showing how Buffalo's lake edge is slowly becoming more accessible and more ecological at the same time.
