A small museum dedicated to Carlos Gardel in the Manrique barrio, the unofficial heart of Medellin tango. Photographs, records, costumes, a re-creation of his apartment and reams of newspaper coverage of the 1935 plane crash that killed him at the city's old airport. Combine with a Saturday night at one of the tango bars on Calle 45.

A story
Gardel, the most famous voice in tango, died on 24 June 1935 when his plane collided with another on the runway at Medellin's Olaya Herrera airport. He was 44. The city took him in posthumously: he is now embedded in local folk culture in a way no Argentine city has matched.
