Kingston

Quiet leafy ward in north Georgetown with consulates and old houses

The Kingston ward stretches from Main Street to the seawall, north of central Georgetown. It is the city's quietest and leafiest residential area — broad streets shaded by mango and flamboyant trees, large wooden colonial houses behind walls, and many of the country's consulates and embassies. State House sits in Kingston, as do several heritage hotels including Cara Lodge and Duke Lodge.

The proximity to the seawall makes Kingston a good base for evening walks along the Atlantic promenade. There is little nightlife and few restaurants, but the calm and the architecture make it the most pleasant of the central neighbourhoods to wander.
