A striking Victorian Gothic building from 1889, City Hall sits on Avenue of the Republic and is one of the most photographed buildings in Georgetown. Its elaborate wooden facade — with ornate spires, carved balconies, and arched windows — has suffered from decades of underfunding and now stands in partial disrepair, which only adds to its slightly melancholy grandeur. Restoration work is intermittently under way.
