National Museum of Guyana

Colonial-era museum covering Amerindian culture and natural history

Housed in a white colonial building on North Street, the National Museum covers Guyana's natural history, Amerindian cultures, and colonial past. The collection includes indigenous artefacts, geological specimens, and displays on the country's wildlife and ecosystems. It is modest by international standards but gives useful context for exploring the interior of the country. Entry is cheap and the staff are helpful.
