The forested park surrounding the Buddha Dordenma statue on the hill above southern Thimphu. Walking trails wind through pine and oak forest, and the park is used by locals for morning exercise and weekend picnics. The main attraction is the approach to the statue itself — the scale of the Buddha only becomes apparent as you climb through the trees and the gold dome appears above the canopy. The park is also home to several small shrines and meditation spots. A good half-day outing combined with a visit to Simtokha Dzong.
