The athletics track and sports facilities adjacent to Changlimithang stadium include facilities for football, basketball, and archery. Local archery tournaments — the most popular spectator sport in Bhutan — are held here regularly and are open to the public. Traditional archery (darts thrown at small wooden targets 145 metres distant) is very different from Olympic archery: competitors shout, sing, and perform elaborate victory dances after each hit. Asking at the stadium on any weekend morning will usually tell you whether a tournament is running.
