Zangthoperi Lhakhang

Zangthoperi Lhakhang is a 1960s temple in central Thimphu, built on a site associated with an earlier battlefield. It lacks the age and drama of Bhutan's great dzongs, but the murals and religious art inside make it worth a short visit.

Its central location is part of the appeal. Drop in while walking between Thimphu's museums, markets, and main streets, and give yourself time to look at the painted details rather than rushing through.
