☰Motithang Viewpoint

The Motithang neighbourhood occupies a ridge above central Thimphu and provides some of the best easily accessible views of the city and the surrounding valley. Several short walking tracks wind through the area, rising above the rooftops to give a perspective across the densely forested hills that frame Thimphu. The viewpoint above the takin preserve is particularly good at dusk, when the valley fills with smoke from kitchen fires and the snow peaks to the north, when visible, glow in the last light.
