Kuching City Mosque rises just west of the old centre, its pink dome and minarets catching the light above the low streets. The present building replaced an older mosque on a site long associated with the city's Malay Muslim community.
Non-Muslim visitors usually appreciate it from outside unless access is clearly offered, but even an exterior stop is worthwhile while walking beyond the waterfront. Late afternoon gives the best colour and keeps the visit comfortable in Kuching's humid heat.
