Tua Pek Kong Temple is the oldest Chinese temple in Kuching, standing in the heart of the city near the Chinese History Museum. It dates to 1843 and remains an active place of worship as well as a landmark of the old waterfront district.
The temple is especially lively around Chinese festivals, including ceremonies connected with the dead and the Ghost Festival. Even on an ordinary day, it is a worthwhile stop for its incense, altar details, and place in Kuching's Chinese community history.
