Rasos Cemetery spreads over wooded slopes southeast of Vilnius Old Town, with uneven paths, old chapels, and graves from several layers of the city's history. It is one of the capital's most important burial grounds, associated with Lithuanian, Polish, and local civic memory.
The cemetery rewards a slow walk rather than a checklist approach. Weathered stones, patriotic memorials, and hillside views give it a different atmosphere from the polished churches and palace courtyards in the centre, and it helps explain why Vilnius' past is shared, contested, and deeply layered.
