The Memorial House of Mother Teresa stands in central Skopje on the site of the church where Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu — who became Mother Teresa — was baptised in 1910. The original church was destroyed in the 1963 earthquake; the memorial was built in 2009 and opened on the centenary of her birth. The building houses a museum dedicated to her life and work, a chapel for prayer, and a small atrium with a bronze statue.
The museum displays photographs, letters, personal items, and documentation of her work in Calcutta and the broader Missionaries of Charity. The exhibit is not hagiographic — it acknowledges the controversies around her medical practices — but it is mainly a tribute. For pilgrims, this is a significant site; for non-believers, it is a thoughtful small museum about an extraordinary and divisive life. Open daily; free entry, donations welcome.
