The Mary Bridge (Podul Mariei) crosses the Bega Canal at the western edge of central Cetate, a concrete arched span of the inter-war period that replaced an earlier wooden bridge. It is named after the small St. Mary chapel and statue on the south side of the bridge.
The bridge is unremarkable as a piece of engineering but the location is a good waypoint on the Bega waterfront walk and is the closest crossing between Central Park and the Iosefin district. The lamp standards along the bridge — small Art Deco-period iron pieces — are preserved heritage items. The view east along the canal toward the Iron Bridge is one of the more photogenic stretches of the waterfront.
