Edinburgh's old port, two miles down the hill from the centre and very much its own place. Long an unfashionable quarter, Leith has been steadily reborn around the Shore — a strip of converted warehouses, gastropubs, and Michelin-starred restaurants along the Water of Leith where it meets the Forth. The Royal Yacht Britannia is moored at Ocean Terminal. Easy to reach by bus, and now (after long delays) by tram.
