The Dominion has been a Morningside institution since 1938, an independent cinema that has survived multiplexes and streaming with its character intact. Several screens offer a mix of mainstream and art-house programming; two screens have leather armchairs with tables where you can be served drinks and food during the film — a more civilised experience than a standard cinema seat. The Dominion is a genuine neighbourhood asset, and its independence means it can show a more varied programme than multiplex equivalents. Booking in advance is recommended for new releases on weekends.
