The Shore is the street that runs along the Water of Leith at the old harbour — cobbled, lined with Victorian warehouses converted into restaurants and bars, and possessed of the particular atmosphere of a port neighbourhood that has been restored without being sanitised. On a sunny afternoon it is one of the best places in Edinburgh to sit outside with a drink and watch the water. The restaurants here include some of the city's finest — The Kitchin and Martin Wishart among them — but there are also casual places, pubs, and cafes. The street is the heart of regenerated Leith and the best starting point for exploring the neighbourhood.
