The Braid Hills are a stretch of public parkland on the southern edge of Edinburgh, accessible from Morningside within a short walk or bus ride. The hills rise to about 200 metres and the views from the top are among the best in the city: north across the rooftops to the Firth of Forth and the hills of Fife, west to the Pentlands, east to Arthur's Seat and the Bass Rock on the horizon. The Braid Hills are less famous than Arthur's Seat or Blackford Hill, which means they are less crowded — a better choice for an early morning or weekday walk.
