Gladstone's Land

Gladstone's Land is a restored 17th-century tenement on the Royal Mile. It shows how wealthy merchants and tenants lived in the crowded Old Town, where narrow buildings rose upward because there was little room to expand outward.

The interiors make Edinburgh's early modern urban life easier to picture, and the house pairs well with the Royal Mile's larger civic and religious sights.
