Stockbridge Market

The Stockbridge Sunday Market runs every Sunday from 10am to 5pm in the small square off Kerr Street, and is Edinburgh's best weekly food market. Thirty to forty stalls sell artisan bread, cheese from Scottish producers, charcuterie, fresh pasta, street food from various cuisines, flowers, and the occasional craft item. It is a neighbourhood market rather than a tourist attraction — the customers are mostly Stockbridge locals — which keeps it genuine and gives it a different character from similar markets elsewhere in the city.

Come hungry: the street food stalls serve breakfast and lunch, and the quality is generally high. The market is small enough to cover in twenty minutes of browsing but pleasant enough to linger over with coffee. Stockbridge itself is worth a walk — the village-within-a-city character is Edinburgh at its most liveable.
