Leith Walk is the long, straight road connecting the city centre to the port of Leith — a mile and a half of independent businesses that constitutes one of Edinburgh's most genuine commercial streets. The lower section, from the Foot of the Walk toward the Shore, has a concentration of independent bars, restaurants from multiple cuisines, and cafes that have made it a focus for Edinburgh's eating and drinking culture. It is not a polished food quarter but a working street with good things on it: less curated than the Old Town, more diverse in character, and more representative of how Leith actually functions.
