A 20-metre bronze statue of Christ the King, arms outstretched, on a hilltop 14 km west of the city — the geographical centre of Mexico, according to traditional measurement, and a major Catholic pilgrimage site. The current statue dates from 1950, replacing one dynamited during the anti-clerical persecutions of 1928. The view from the summit covers half of the Bajío.
Reachable by taxi or local bus from Guanajuato bus station. Steep last kilometre.
