Ex-Hacienda de San Gabriel de Barrera

A seventeenth-century silver-processing hacienda on the south-western outskirts of the city, owned by the Barrera family and now restored as a museum with extensive themed gardens. The main house contains period furniture and colonial paintings; the gardens — Roman, Italian, Moorish, Japanese, English — spread across several terraces with stone fountains, statues, and views back to the city. Allow two hours including the gardens.

A short taxi ride from the centre. Good combined with the silver-mine sites of La Valenciana.
