A 14-acre botanic garden on Museum Hill, designed entirely around plants native to the high desert and the Southwest's mountain ecosystems. Sections include an orchard, a meadow of native grasses, a piñon-juniper area, and a courtyard garden inspired by traditional New Mexican placita layouts.
A genuinely educational visit if you want to understand the high-altitude environment around Santa Fe. The garden is at its peak in late spring (May) and late summer (August-September) after the monsoon. Closed Tuesdays.
