Santa Fe Railyard

Converted rail district with farmers' market, galleries, and the train depot

A 50-acre former rail yard ten minutes' walk south of the Plaza, redeveloped in the 2000s into a mix of galleries, restaurants, parks, and the still-active Santa Fe train depot. The architecture is post-industrial — corrugated metal, brick, exposed steel — and a deliberate counterpoint to the adobe everywhere else.

The Saturday farmers' market is one of the best in the country: 150 producers, all from within 200 miles. SITE Santa Fe runs ambitious contemporary art exhibitions here. The Sky Railway tourist train and the New Mexico Rail Runner Express both leave from the depot.
