A specialised museum of Spanish colonial art on Museum Hill, focused on retablos, bultos, santos, textiles, and furniture from New Mexico's three centuries as a Spanish and Mexican province. The collection is the work of the Spanish Colonial Arts Society, founded in 1925 to preserve the traditional crafts of New Mexican Hispanos.
The annual Traditional Spanish Market on the Plaza in late July is the museum's flagship event — the world's largest exhibition of contemporary Spanish colonial folk art. Closed Mondays in winter.
