A passenger train running between Santa Fe and Lamy, an 18-mile route through the piñon-juniper desert south of the city. The trains run a series of themed experiences — sunset rides with cocktails, themed dinners, family rides, occasional murder-mystery runs — rather than straightforward transport.
The trip is two to three hours depending on the format. The trains use restored vintage rolling stock and the views are big sky and red mesas. Book ahead — popular trips fill weeks out.
