Hurghada's dolphinarium, on the road south toward the airport, runs daily shows with captive bottlenose dolphins, fur seals and an underwater performance with swimmers and dolphins together. The facility is the standard tourist-dolphin format and the question of whether captive marine mammals belong in a show is one that visitors have to make their own peace with. If you want a wild encounter with cetaceans the Sha'ab El Erg dolphin reef is the better option. If you are travelling with small children and need an air-conditioned afternoon, the dolphinarium delivers on what it advertises.
