Mahmya is a small islet off the southern tip of Giftun Saghir, developed as a single-operator beach club inside the Giftun marine protected area. Day-boat packages from Hurghada include the boat, a buffet lunch on the beach, and full use of sun loungers, kayaks and the snorkelling reef on the eastern side of the island. It is unashamedly resort-style — colour-coded loungers, bar service, music — and significantly busier than the more open beaches of Giftun Kebir, but the water is the same brilliant turquoise and the reef is in good condition. Best for a relaxed snorkel-and-sun day rather than serious diving.
