Red Sea Diving

Warm, clear water with exceptional reef diving

Hurghada built its reputation on diving, and the Red Sea still delivers. The water is warm (24–28°C in summer, 20–22°C in winter), visibility routinely exceeds 20 metres, and the reefs around the offshore islands hold an extraordinary variety of species — lionfish, moray eels, rays, reef sharks, and dense shoals of anthias and glassfish. The best sites are around Giftun Island, Sha'ab Abu Ramada (known as the "aquarium"), and the deeper walls off Sha'ab Umm Gammar. Most dive centers are concentrated along the marina and the Sakkala strip. A typical two-dive day trip costs around 600–900 EGP including equipment; PADI Open Water courses start around 3,500 EGP and can be completed in four days.
