Makadi Bay sits about 30 km south of Hurghada, a horseshoe-shaped bay developed in the 1990s as the next resort enclave after the central strip filled up. It is family-oriented in feel — a string of large all-inclusive resorts, a small water park, a golf course inland — and the beach has long stretches of shallow water that work well for children. The house reef along the southern arm of the bay is excellent for snorkelling. Like Sahl Hasheesh, Makadi has almost no independent restaurants or bars: nearly everyone here eats at their resort and stays for the duration.
