The Sindbad real submarine — not a semi-submersible boat with glass bottom — dives to around 22 metres off the Sindbad Resort jetty south of Sakkala, giving non-divers an honest look at one of the Red Sea's house reefs through large portholes. The trip lasts about an hour underwater plus boat transfers; pressure is maintained, so guests of any age can take part. It is a tourist attraction in the obvious sense, but it does what it says and the reef life — anthias, butterflyfish, the occasional moray — is genuinely there. A good rainy-day option (Hurghada rains about three times a year), or for anyone who wants the reef without the snorkel mask.
