Wuhan Art Museum

The Wuhan Art Museum is housed in a stately Beaux-Arts building on Baohua Street in Hankou — the former Jin Cheng Bank, built in the 1930s — and is the principal contemporary art venue in central China. The collection focuses on 20th- and 21st-century Chinese art, including a substantial holding of Wuhan-school painters and a growing collection of international contemporary work.

Exhibitions rotate every few months. The building itself, with marble staircases and a sky-lit central court, is worth the visit in its own right. Free admission with ID; closed Mondays.
