The Wuhan Zoo, in a corner of Hanyang on the south-western edge of the city, is one of the older municipal zoos in China and is known regionally for its giant panda enclosure. It also has the typical Chinese-zoo collection of tigers, leopards, primates, and a large bird park.
By international standards the enclosures are modest but the zoo has been gradually modernising. It is a useful option for a half-day with children, especially when combined with a visit to nearby Moon Lake. Open daily; small admission fee.
