The Asakura Museum of Sculpture preserves the former home and studio of sculptor Asakura Fumio in Yanaka. The house is as much the attraction as the art: a Japanese residence and garden joined to a tall studio, with a rooftop garden and a quiet, lived-in atmosphere.
Inside are Asakura's realist sculptures, mostly people and cats, displayed in the spaces where he worked. Wear socks, as shoes come off at the entrance and bare feet are not allowed.
