Shitamachi Museum looks at the old low-city districts of Tokyo, with recreated houses, shops, and everyday objects from the early 20th century. It is small, but the domestic scale is the point: you see how ordinary Tokyoites lived before the city became glass, rail lines, and office towers.
It pairs naturally with Ueno Park and the larger national museums nearby. Visit it when you want a quieter, more human-sized piece of Tokyo history.
