Shinobazu Pond is the broad lotus pond at the southern edge of Ueno Park. In summer it turns into a sheet of green leaves and flowers, with waterfowl moving between the reeds and Bentendo Hall sitting on its island in the middle.
It is an easy, atmospheric stop between Ueno's museums and the streets around Okachimachi. The short walk out to the hall is the best part, especially when the lotus is in bloom.
