The main Russian Orthodox cathedral of Tashkent, built in the 1870s and still serving the city's substantial Russian-speaking community. Gold onion domes top a yellow-and-white brick structure; the interior has the icons, gold screens, and incense smoke of any working Russian church.
Open to visitors outside services. Sundays are when the congregation gathers; an Easter midnight service here is a memorable experience.
