Minor Mosque

Striking white-marble mosque opened in 2014

A bright white-marble mosque on the banks of the Ankhor Canal, finished in 2014. The design is a deliberate echo of classical Central Asian mosques — twin minarets, a turquoise dome, mosaic-tiled niches — but rendered in modern Carrara marble rather than baked brick.

The mosque holds about 2,400 worshippers and is one of the more pleasant religious spaces in the city, less crowded than Khast Imam. Open to respectful non-Muslim visitors outside prayer times. The riverside park around it is good for an evening stroll.
