A small park dedicated to the unlikely Cold War friendship between Tashkent and Seattle — the two cities became sisters in 1973, the first such pairing between a Soviet and an American city. Locals call it "Seattle Park" and the centrepiece is a bronze "tree of peace" hung with plaques bearing wishes for peace from American and Soviet schoolchildren.
A quiet, slightly faded spot, unremarkable on its own but a good footnote to Tashkent's twentieth-century history. Best visited in passing rather than as a destination.
