Zangiata Complex

Pilgrimage complex outside Tashkent with mausoleums, mosque, madrasa, and cemetery.

The Zangiata Complex is one of the most important pilgrimage sites around Tashkent, centred on the mausoleum of the Sufi figure Zangiata and the nearby mausoleum of Anbar Bibi. The ensemble includes religious buildings, courtyard spaces, a minaret, and a cemetery, with architectural layers that reflect several centuries of rebuilding and devotion.

It sits outside the central sightseeing circuit, so it is best for travellers who have already seen Tashkent's headline mosques, madrasas, and museums. The atmosphere is more local and devotional than museum-like; dress conservatively and allow time to move slowly through the courtyards rather than treating it as a quick photo stop.
