A small open square named for the French-Armenian chansonnier Charles Aznavour, whose foundation rebuilt much of the surrounding area after the 1988 Spitak earthquake. The Moscow Cinema (Kinoteatr Moskva), a 1936 modernist masterpiece by architect Tigran Erkanyan, dominates the square — its symmetrical wings, glazed lobby, and cylindrical staircase tower are among the best Soviet-era buildings in the city.
The terraces around the square are full of cafes and ice-cream parlours in good weather. It is a natural cut-through between Abovyan Street and the Cascade district.
