A six-block stretch of NW 16th Street that twenty years ago was crime-ridden and largely boarded up and is now the most interesting cluster of independent restaurants, bars and boutiques in the city. The transformation was driven largely by artists priced out of more expensive neighbourhoods, and the cinema-anchored streetscape still has the slightly rough, slightly creative energy that drove the revival.
Walkable, lively at night, and small enough to take in over a long evening. The LIVE on the Plaza event on the second Friday of each month spreads food trucks, live bands and craft vendors along the sidewalks.
