Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden

A 119-acre zoo and botanical garden in the Adventure District northeast of downtown, with around 1,800 animals organised into geographic exhibits — African plains, Asian forests, an aviary, an aquatic centre. The elephant habitat is the largest in any North American zoo and includes a herd of Asian elephants successfully bred at the zoo. The Children's Zoo and the sea-lion show are popular with families.

Easy half-day visit. Combine with Science Museum Oklahoma and the National Cowboy Museum, all of which are on the same campus. Open daily; well shaded, but bring a hat for the summer.
