A small, eccentric museum run by the American Pigeon Fanciers Association in north Oklahoma City, devoted entirely to the keeping, racing and history of pigeons. The exhibits cover war pigeons (the museum holds the medals of Cher Ami, the bird that carried the message that saved the Lost Battalion in 1918), the show breeds — fantails, pouters, croppers, frillbacks — and the strange culture of pigeon racing.
Curiously moving. The lofts behind the building hold live birds and visitors can watch a flight if the weather is right. Open by appointment most weekdays and on Saturday afternoons; donation requested.
