A surprising piece of Olympic-class infrastructure on the Oklahoma River south of downtown. The Boathouse District is the official training venue for USA Canoe/Kayak, with a 2,000-metre rowing course down the river itself and an artificial whitewater channel for slalom training. Visitors can go up the 24-metre adventure tower for ziplines, rope courses and the SandRidge Sky Trail — Oklahoma's only urban whitewater rafting is on the same site.
A counter-intuitive draw for visitors used to thinking of Oklahoma as Dust Bowl country. The whitewater channel is open to the public from spring through fall; the rest of the facilities run year-round. Half a day if you go in for the activities, an hour if you just want to watch the rowers go past.
