The TV Tower at the western end of the Eixo Monumental was designed by Lúcio Costa himself and completed in 1967. At 224 metres it was once the tallest TV tower in Latin America, and its free viewing platform at 75 metres still gives the best orientation of Brasília's aeroplane-shaped Pilot Plan.
From the platform you can trace the curved residential wings — Asa Norte and Asa Sul — running off either side of the Eixo Monumental, with the cluster of monumental buildings at the eastern end. Open daily except Mondays. At the base, a craft fair runs on weekends with crafts and food from all over Brazil.
